The smart grid concept aims to improve the reliability and efficiency of the electricity grids by integrating information and communication infrastructures. Gazi University Smart Grids Academic Department has been established in 2014 as a graduate program for MSc and PhD degrees. This program aims to conduct actual studies especially focused on renewable energy sources, electrical power systems, energy economy, modeling of smart grids, distributed generation, energy storage, cyber security in smart grids, communication technologies in smart grid networks, smart metering, power electronics interfaces, critical issues on smart grids etc.
The smart grids program aims to train engineers who have the capabilities and expertise in the following key areas:
- Electricity Production/Consumption
- Clean Energy Enabling Technologies
- Computer Information Services
- Energy-related Markets
- Integration of Electrical Vehicles
